Things to do in Miami: Stitch Lab Pop-Up in the Design District April 8-10, 2022

The Stitch Lab fashion incubator returns with a three-day pop-up event this weekend, showcasing eye-catching fashion pieces that have you wondering: “Where is that from ?”

The pop-up kicks off Thursday, April 7 with an invitation-only fashion show, followed by a free pop-up event at Paradise Plaza from April 8-10 featuring 38 up-and-coming Latin American designers. Thursday’s fashion show features outfits from each designer’s collection, designed by Venezuelan designer Mariela Ortega. The creators are from Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Panama and Mexico.

Attendees can browse designer collections including Eugenia Fernandez, Valentina Karnoubi, Florencia Davalos, Alejandra Raw, Liza Echeverry and Mia de Dios, as well as newcomers Olette, Venandi, Nue, Relicario and Nudo Rosa. Everything from handbags and clothing to swimwear, lingerie and shoes will be available for purchase.

The most exciting aspect of the Stitch Lab pop-up: participants will be able to meet the creators behind the pieces and have their hair done by them.

Debuting as a simple trunk show, Stitch Lab has become the ultimate hypeman for Latin American designers. The Fashion Launch Pad introduced more than 150 brands from the Caribbean, Central America and South America to American consumers.

During the pandemic, Stitch Lab launched an e-commerce site, which transformed into a virtual marketplace for customers to purchase designer pieces.

But as the world has returned to normal, so has the fashion industry.

“Something I’m happy to see again is nightgowns, party clothes, floral clothes,” said Karina Rosendo, Founder and CEO of Stitch Lab. “For the past two years we’ve been focusing on sleepwear and exercise clothes, and now I’m excited to see the glamor and the glitz. People are starting to go clubbing and remarry “, .

After this weekend’s pop-up, Stitch Lab will host a summer pop-up at Aventura Mall before heading to Houston for Hispanic Heritage Month in September.
